Online vocal coaching helps me to fit singing into my busy schedule. Its a revelation.
— Paul Goodman

Online Singing Lessons aren’t for everyone.

Its true, and that is more than OK.

Some singers are concerned that the quality of training won’t be as good.

Many vocalists worry that they won’t have as strong a rapport with their coach as they would if they were meeting in person.

Others feel embarrassed at the thought of their neighbours hearing them.

These are completely understandable concerns, and I used to share them with you.

I have been coaching singers online for more than 10 years, and this became our only option during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It was a time of great learning for all of us and the standard of online coaching improved immeasurably as a result.

(You can read my blog post about the highs and lows of online singing lessons here.)

In this post pandemic world, singers now have options when it comes to who they train with and that is a beautiful thing.

Don’t get me wrong. Choosing your coach based on their location is fine, if that is what you value.

However, I’m going to be straight with you.

If you are someone with big dreams (and I know you are,) working with the best vocal coach for your needs REGARDLESS of location, is the fastest way to get your voice in shape.

So why would you limit your choice of coach based on the fact they live nearby?!

Other benefits of online vocal coaching include:

  • More a cappella singing leads to amazingly accurate pitching and musicality

  • The camera on zoom calls offers instant visual feedback (this is scientifically proven to SPEED UP your learning!)

  • You get a free video of the session to use in your practice and to help to monitor your progress

  • Having your session at home makes it easier to build effective ‘at home’ practice habits, because you're already there! (The science backs this up too.)

  • Less time spent travelling = more energy for other things. Like singing!

What kinds of singers ARE a good fit for online singing lessons?

The majority of my clients fit into one of these categories.

  • Busy people

  • Singers who have a niche problem or need

  • Singers who cannot travel for health or childcare reasons

  • The opposite- those who are often travelling

  • Tech savvy people who have their own recording set up at home (this is not necessary but they often want to use their own stuff!)
